Groundwork Development

Groundwork has a strong track record in delivering pan-London programmes. In order to better address London-wide issues a key cornerstone of the Groundwork London strategy is to ensure services are delivered across the capital by 2007. This will ensure that Groundwork operations are able to target all of the capital's most deprived communities and neighbourhoods.

Plans for the future include Kensington and Chelsea, and Harrow, and Groundwork is also looking forward to building on preliminary discussions with Barnet and Enfield.

Development Process

Groundwork aims to work in areas where there is greatest need, in partnership with existing organisations and initiatives. There is a set process to follow in establishing the need in an area and what Groundwork?s role would be in fulfilling that need. This takes the form of feasibility studies and consultation with local stakeholders, as Groundwork works in partnerships with the local authority, the voluntary and community sector, as well as the private sector. A Steering Group comprising of local stakeholders, to ensure a robust research process has been followed, and to bring an element of openness into the process, oversees this work.

To build viable local operations and capacity, Groundwork seeks to agree with each local authority, and other partners, the strategic direction, programme of work and role of Groundwork services within their local area.

The feasibility process has recently been completed and Groundwork is ready to start delivering services in the City of Westminster and Lambeth.
